Sarah Saatzer

Counsellor and Psychotherapist Accredited Professional (Registered) NCS

Whatever has brought you here to seek therapy I send out a warm welcome to you.

It can be daunting trying to find the right therapist for you and I wish you all the very best with it.

I am an experienced  therapist offering a warm compassionate space which respects your pace and aims to be fully accepting of where you are in each moment.

Therapy is collaborative, you are in charge of your process and pace and I hold the space; safe, secure and accepting, for you to explore. Its an organic process and I am here also to facilitate when you may feel stuck as well as just a listening presence being alongside you.

With individuals and couples I have a lot of experience, working with a very wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, fear of conflict, anger issues, unwanted behaviour patterns, difficulties at work, PTSD, challenges with neurodiversity in a world not set up for you and many others.

I have worked alongside people with emotional regulation issues and found how an accepting, supportive and authentic one to one relationship can really make a difference in the  journey to a stronger sense of self and greater management of difficulties.

Another area of interest and experience for me is Neurodiversity.

Finding your way with all the myriad of thoughts and feelings that comes up for you, coming into adulthood or finding out later on in life about neurodiversity, is really an individual process. To find a space where all feelings and reactions are accepted does help in this process. I have made sure to educate myself in this area from neurodiverse people themselves.

Many people have come to me to find their way when they suspect or know they have been affected by narcissistic abuse at home, at work or in their upbringing. There is often a huge amount of conflicting feelings and perceptions and I am here to give space to and be accepting of all you bring as you find your way.

Supporting Couples

For couples the sessions can be tailored to what you are bringing and how much time you want to invest in the therapy. I offer a space which is understanding of what each of you is bringing and my balanced and regulating approach can help you to work through some very tough, entangled and stuck places.

Each relationship is different and has different goals and I can facilitate you to negotiate a way forward that feels more manageable, harmonious and peaceful, wherever you are on your journey with this relationship.

I also have some tools I can offer to help with communication and understanding. Its important to know that there is a way forward and we can work on a manageable plan as long as you are both willing to do the work.

There have been times that I have helped couples through the difficult time and transition of breaking up.

I have 20 years experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy, 15 years experience in Relationship Counselling and have more recently started offering Family Constellations therapy as well (which works with intergenerational patterns and trauma).

Family Constellations therapy works in a more three dimensional and directive way than counselling and psychotherapy. It is an approach that helps to reveal unconscious hidden loyalties in a family which can lead us as individuals to repeating patterns and stuckness. In going back, sometimes generations, we can gradually unknot the entanglements which often come from something which was humanly insurmountable at the time of the root cause. These may be individual ( like loss of a parent or child) or collective ( like war) traumas.

I bring my rigorous Person Centred training and experience to my Family Constellations facilitation as well as my therapy work, even though the general approach to this work is more directive and structured than Psychotherapy and Counselling.  My training in this field is with a highly respected and recognised training provider, CSC. I offer individual and group work in Family Constellations.

I have a set of Bach Flower Remedies along with empty bottles to make a mix if you would be interested in trying these subtle but effective remedies. I have quite some experience with them.

My continuing professional development and training is very important to me and my particular interests in training have been: Working with Complex Trauma (particularly the work of Carolyn Spring); Trauma and the Brain, Trauma and the Body, Autism and challenges relating to living in a society set up for a neurotypical brain; Intergenerational Trauma; Emotional Regulation Disorder (or BPD); Understanding and recovering from abusive relationships; Imago Couples work and the phases of relationships; and much more

I offer Psychotherapy and Counselling and individual Family Constellations sessions, working via video call and in person. I have availability on Monday afternoons for Face To Face Sessions in Brook Therapy Rooms

Thank you for taking the time to read about therapy with me, and I wish you well on your next steps
