Expert support for adults who care for children

My entire professional life has been dedicated to the growth and development of children and young people. I have a wealth of experience in child and adolescent psychological development. In addition, I understand what it feels like to be the parent in the system, when the professionals’ step into your role. I’ve been on that side of the table; I know the emotions and challenges it brings. It is this experience that has shaped my approach and perspective. It is also the experience that opened my eyes to a gap in the system. There is seemingly no one available, or in role, to support the adult behind the child. Parents are often expected to hold it all together, without being offered meaningful support themselves. It is no wonder so many are feeling burnt out and completely overwhelmed.

That is where the idea for Envelop Psychology was born.

I can work with you to explore areas such as but not restricted to:

  • Mental health and well being

  • Loss, change, and bereavement

  • Neurodiversity – Autism, ADHD, ‘AuDHD’,

  • Emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA)

  • The impact of social injustice due to e.g., gender, race, religion, ability, appearance, class, culture, ethnicity and sexuality

  • Identity and belonging in the digital age

  • Baby brain development

  • The teenage brain

  • Post adoption

  • Pre and post possible diagnosis

  • Long term chronic ill-health

Envelop Psychology

Envelop is a space for parents, carers and anyone that has responsibility for children and young people. It is time with a psychologist/family therapist to discuss anything you wish with respect to childhood and adolescence. Somewhere to explore parenting in a rapidly evolving world. A world in which our children are navigating a myriad of issues and ideas that were not necessarily present in previous generations. With me, you will have the opportunity to talk openly and honestly, without fear of judgement. In our work together, I will meet you where you are and create a space where your voice and perspective are central.

Sessions are 60 minutes and tailored to you. You may need one single power-hour to get all your questions and concerns aired and answered, or weekly/monthly/ad hoc sessions for ongoing support.

I can meet with parents, parents and child, child, or any combination – and these can alter each week depending on how our journey develops. I am keen to keep our work together within the family system, as I have found this to be the most beneficial when considering long term outcomes. Meeting with just parent/s first is the best starting point.

In addition, I offer professional supervision for those working with children and young people. Supervision is a vital strand of support and professional development for all of us working in a role with other people. For professionals working with children and young adults in any capacity, you can find a space to reflect, seek guidance or simply offload. The purpose is to support you to continue in often challenging roles and make a difference in your work. I use my knowledge and experience as an educational psychologist and systemic, family therapy practitioner, to support individuals and small groups in your reflections and professional development.
