Psychodynamic Therapist
Rebecca Neale
About therapy with me
It is important that you experience therapy as safe and non-judgemental, and I will provide you with an empathic, confidential space in which you will be able to talk and be listened to by a professional who will not judge or assume that they know what is best for you. Together we will think about you, your feelings and experiences, seeking to uncover and resolve problematic behaviour patterns, feelings and issues that might be affecting you and your relationships. This can offer you a way of learning about yourself and the particular obstacles you face in life.
My therapy practice is informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy, which involves an exploration of a person’s emotional and inner world, and seeks to understand the unhelpful patterns of relating and behaviour that can interfere with living a productive and meaningful life. In our work together I will encourage you to explore emotions, behaviours, significant events and relationships, and consider the underlying roots or causes for your difficulties. This is not just about looking back over your past, but an opportunity to connect with who you really are and move towards living in a way that feels authentic. The aim is to help you reach a deeper understanding of your emotional experience, and what might be holding you back.
About Me
I have undergone extensive training and hold a professional qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from WPF Therapy. I am a clinical member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Further training, experience and study have developed and enhanced my practice, particularly in areas such as perinatal mental health, couple and family relationships, trauma, neurodiversity and psychosexual issues. Alongside my practice I teach at the British Psychotherapy Foundation and co-facilitate a reading group studying Jung’s Red Book.
Next steps
Your relationship with a therapist is an important part of therapy, and I bring an understanding of the expectation and concerns about embarking on a therapy journey, having been in therapy myself for several years. An initial session can provide you with a sense of the therapy I offer and an experience of what it might be like to work together. If you would like to discuss booking in a consultation please email me at rebeccanealetherapy@gmail.com and we can arrange a brief telephone conversation to discuss further.
